Multi-tenant architecture

One platform. Every company, client and partner in its own space.

LaserLMS is multi-tenant at its core. Run subsidiaries, client companies, franchises or partner networks as separate companies, each with its own users, branding, courses, managers and reports, all managed from one place.

What every company gets

Each tenant feels like its own LMS to the people in it.

  • Users and departments organised the way that company works.
  • Company managers who run their own people and reports.
  • Branding and domain, from logo and colours to a custom address.
  • Course access to shared library courses plus courses of its own.
  • Scoped reports that only show that company's data.
  • Its own sign-in, including a separate identity provider if needed.

Central control without central bottlenecks.

Your platform team manages everything once. Company managers handle day-to-day work for their own people, so requests stop queuing at head office.

  • Switch between companies from the header, as in the Acme Incorporation view shown here.
  • Share one course library and assign a course to many companies at once.
  • Allocate course access in blocks with start and end dates, useful when you recharge or sell training to clients.
  • Compare companies in cross-tenant reports.

Multi-tenant or dedicated?

Most organisations start multi-tenant. Choose a dedicated instance where contracts or regulators require physical separation.

What is a multi-tenant LMS?

A multi-tenant LMS runs many separate organisations, called tenants or companies, on one platform. Each has its own users, branding, courses and reports, while a central team manages the platform once instead of running a separate LMS for each.

How is tenant data kept separate?

Users, managers, enrolments and reports are scoped to their company in the application, so a manager in one company cannot see another. Where a contract requires physical separation, we run a dedicated instance for that client instead.

Can each tenant have its own domain and branding?

Yes. Each company can have its own logo, colours and theme, and its own domain or subdomain, such as academy.yourclient.com.

Is there a limit on the number of tenants?

No fixed limit. Capacity depends on total users and activity, and we size the deployment to your plans.
